40+ years. Hundreds of races.
One belief: anything is possible.
I’ve spent more than four decades in endurance sports—overcoming birth defects, training accidents, and serious injuries. That mindset started early, when I ran the first-ever Indy Mini Marathon in 1979—while still in middle school.
Running evolved into triathlon in 1985. I began with sprint and Olympic distances and, while at Ball State University, completed the Muncie Endurathon (now Ironman Muncie). That race launched a lifelong pursuit that would include hundreds of triathlons over the next 40 years.
In 2019, a major bike accident changed everything. I was told I might never run again. Instead, I committed to the work. After 18 months of focused rehab at Forte Sports Medicine, I returned to pain-free running and completed my first post-accident sprint triathlon in 2021.
After building up my fitness in the fall of 2022, I finished Ironman Michigan 70.3. Facing my 60th birthday in 2023, I set a bold goal:
Finish six Ironman 70.3 races in 4 months
6 for 60.
Results
With disciplined training, intentional fueling, and recovery-first planning, I was amazed with the results
Lifetime PR: 5:11 at Ironman Ohio
Podium Finishes: 6
Results: Completed all 6 races including a bonus
7th 70.3 at Muncie in September
The lesson:
The body can perform at a high level—at any age—when training, nutrition, recovery, and consistency are done right.
That’s the foundation of my coaching today: helping people perform better, feel stronger, and live healthier—no matter where they’re starting.
Anything is possible.
